Fattoush comes from the Levant mainly Lebanon, Syria, Palestine, and Jordan. The name itself comes from the Arabic word “fatteh,” which means to crumble or break apart, referring to the pieces of pita bread mixed into the salad. Fattoush was originally a peasant dish. Families would take: leftover or stale pita bread fresh vegetables from the garden herbs like parsley and mint Instead of wasting bread, they would toast or fry it and mix it into a salad with a tangy dressing.
